Stručni aktiv društvenih nauka

Expert council consisting of our teachers had several working meetings during the current school year, where they designed joint projects, coordinated activities, guided and evaluated professional work. They continued to work on the redecorating of the classrooms, improving the learning process through the introduction of multimedia presentations, creating joint educational projects, the selection of inspirational readings and short films. They also weren’t behind in the process of continuous professional development of teachers. The results of our efforts were: achieving the program objectives, the covered topics, implemented lessons, the marks of our students.

Social intelligence and political culture

Realization of the Sociology teaching program was successful this year as well, and the subject itself was perfectly accepted by the students. Due to the wide approaches, inspiring themes and the atmosphere of dialogues our students felt a kind of a cognitive ecstasy. The possibility of choosing the reading material and the upgrading of the teaching content through solving different situations contributes to the conceptual maturing of our students and their understanding of the topics. There has also been a correlation with our ex-students and university professors. Together with the teacher of Constitution and the rights of citizens, Professor Uzelac designed a new subject called “social and political culture” for the students of the third year.

Critical thinking and communication openness

Philosophy classes were marked by the atmosphere of the broadest exchange of critical opinion. The idea was that our graduate students should learn about the most important philosophical schools, different models of knowledge, culture paradigm and to consider the peculiarities of individual worldviews. Philosophy also groomed interdisciplinary approach to thematic challenges perceived by many times. Our year's imperatives were to be better and better educated with a spiritually enriched terminology.

Work, cooperation and competitive spirit

Our history teachers have set an example of excellent cooperation and dedicated work. In this way the competitive spirit of our students is being well affirmed. This is one of the reasons why our students were again some of the best at the National competition in History (for high schools).

Special student groups

A group interested in history and psychology led by our history professors A. Glavnik and psychology professor M. Repac worked with high school students and analyzed the contents of the following topics:

  1. Espionage, new technologies, mass surveillance and loss of privacy
  2. The Middle East Crisis
  3. Causes, consequences and perspectives
  4. The Ukrainian crisis - the economy, politics and the new "Cold War"
  5. Misuse of scientific and technical discoveries throughout history
  6. Wars of the 90s - review and parallels with other conflicts

Theater Group

A particular challenge for professor Repac was the initiative of our second grade students to form a theater group for the first time in the history of the school. Assuming the role of a director, prof. Repac staged a reading of a contemporary novel by Anthony Burgess 'A Clockwork Orange', which he on the one hand, fully connected to the school subjects, and on the other, portrayed preventive efforts in working with students against violence, drug addiction and delinquency. With the professional support and help of Professor Andjelka Petrovic, and a little help with the props from our friends from the "Atelje 212" students have played very well attended show.

Meetings, visits, events

Professor Petrović, besides professors Blagojevic, also participates in the realization of the subject “civic education”. Through thematic content and appropriate pedagogical methods students are given the opportunity to build a culture of dialogue, moral awareness and cultivate sensuality. In addition to that numerous extracurricular activities, meetings, exhibitions, visits to museums, theaters and cooperation with cultural institutions were organized. When spiritual interests intertwined, ties and cooperation with other teachers were realized. Religious education emphasizes the personal relationship and dialogue. The professor of this subject achieves this goal through participating in school programs and cultural projects. Here we refer to the professors’ involvement in the organization of this year's St. Sava celebration, Ascension Day procession and humanitarian action. An ordained monk from the monastery Decani came to our school in May, to collect gifts of our students for schools in Kosovo.

School gallery, art competitions and exhibitions

His Grace Bishop of Lipljan Jovan, vicar of the Serbian Patriarch, opened the Mathematical Grammar School exhibition of works by students of the Academy of the Serbian Orthodox Church for arts and Conservation on January 25th, 2014. Kuloar MG gallery and gallery Uroboros organized an art competition for high school students of Serbia and the region. They received 756 applications from 50 secondary schools in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia. Three awards were selected and awarded in three categories: art work, photographs and short films and an animated film.

Rhetoric competition

This remarkable event brought together teachers of different subjects and professional councils, representatives of the Students' Parliament, guests from Belgrade University, lovers of beautiful words and our gifted students. Our competition had an intergovernmental character this year, because it also hosted visitors and high school students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The contestants showed the linguistic and logical culture and responsibility for the problems of society and the challenges of modern time.

The School Magazine

The previously mentioned rhetorical program found an appropriate place in this year's edition of the Mathematical Grammar School magazine. That is where the words spoken at “the beautiful words gatherings” were published.
